Children's Worship

Worship and Children

We believe the Gospel is for persons of all ages and we welcome children in all our worship services. Families with children are encouraged to sit close to the front of the sanctuary so children feel more included in the worship experience. Worship booklets, “Parenting in the Pew” tips and children’s booklets are available in the narthex and from the ushers.

Children ages four through third grade may choose to attend Godly Play Worship.

Fourth thru sixth graders are invited to worship in the sanctuary with their families.

Godly Play Worship

Godly Play Worship is our children's worship time held during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Children ages 4 through third grade may participate. In Godly Play, children experience the different components of a worship service in an experiential way. Trained Godly Play storytellers and "shepherds/doorkeepers" assist the children as they greet each other, prepare their hearts, minds and bodies to hear the Bible story, respond to the story, read the scriptures, pray and enjoy a "feast" (simple snack of crackers and water/juice). Stories follow the church year.

To attend Godly Play Worship, please register your child with the adult helper in the front pew or fill out a lime green card in the pew rack and send with your child. Children leave for Godly Play Worship immediately following “Time for Children" in the worship service. Parents should pick up children immediately following the worship service in the Godly Play classroom, Room #116, main floor, last hallway on the right.

Worship Education Sessions

Worship Education Sessions are held annually for 4-6th graders and their families. 4th-6th graders are invited to participate in worship in a variety of ways including serving as acolytes, scripture readers, ushers and greeters. Please contact Jaymie Derden for more information.
